Caprica

|
It’s been a while since our last update, but we do have some exciting news with exciting times upon us.
“Caprica” – the Battlestar Galactica prequel series has begun, and it’s rockin’ in more ways than just being awesome.
As you’d expect from a show depicting daily life in an earth(like)-bound society, there are often songs of many kinds heard on the show, all written specifically for the show (because after all, it is a different planet in a different time, so they can’t use real contemporary music).
More often than not, those songs have meaning more than just their own, but also foreshadow events in the series and reflect things that happen on scene.
Here at “Songs of Earth” we love these, and we will be bringing you the lyrics and words to these songs and scenes.
We just opened the Caprica section of our website, and already we’ve added the lyrics to the song heard on “Gravedancing” (episode 4) in the really great scene when the lab tech was dancing with the Cylon/Zoe.
The song is called “Was Love” and is performed by “Captain Ahab”, a band who are friends with the show’s musical composer – Bear McCreary.
The song is published with their permission, by the way, so thank you again, Captain Ahab! You guys rock!
Be sure to check out their website, and also the song’s homepage, where you can download it in REALLY high quality – for FREE!
We’ll be bringing you some more soon, hopefully Mr. McCreary will release the lyrics to “Caprica Abides” soon, the national anthem heard during the Pyramid game on the second (or was it the third?) episode.
So in the meantime, enjoy this new awesome song!
Caprica Abides – so say we all!

Coming soon to “Songs-of-Earth”

Hello everyone.
Yes, it’s been a while since our last update, but there wasn’t much to update on.
Except that now as the Season 4 soundtrack is out, some work is ahead of us, and as soon as I get my ordered copy (unfortunately I have to order from abroad, which takes time even nowadays), I will start working on putting the lyrics in the site.
In the meantime, make sure to order your own copy either through Amazon or through eBay.
So say we all,

Finale, changes, and upcoming news.
04/06/2009 04:44 AM |
|
As you can see, the site is undergoing some visual changes.
Until I finish playing around and settle for the design I like, some of the pages may look particularly ugly (like this one you’re reading right now – that red and blue won’t last forever, probably).
Also, I’m planning some upcoming additions to the “Series Originals” area, pending closer ‘investigation’ of the finale, and hopefully some info from the big-dog himself, Bear McCreary.
More info to come soon, and hopefully the Season 4 Soundtrack CD isn’t too far away down the line.
In the meantime, please feel free to contact me with any fan-made creations.
So say we all,
-Elad Avron

Galactica Actual
01/24/2009 04:06 AM |
|
A new section in the website - Galactica Actual – contains the lyrics and links to the very special musical revue by "Nicodimus" based on Battlestar Galactica.
Feel free to send in feedback directly to Nicodimus, or through our website’s Feedback Form.
Also, be sure to tune in to Bear McCreary’s blog now that the show’s back. It’s pretty amazing to see the work that’s being done behind the scenes on what is probably the best soundtrack in a television show ever.
Have a safe week,
-Elad

New poem, and some updates
12/03/2008 10:26 AM |
|
There’s a new poem in the ‘Fan submissions’ section, this time an ode to Katee Sackhoff, written by Stylo. Check it out.
Also, coming soon to the website are the lyrics to “Galactica Actual”, a Battlestar Galactica themed rock album by Nicodimus.
You can hear some of the songs from the album here.
And on a final note, I’ve fine tuned the website’s design a little bit. Hope it looks a little better and a bit farther from the uncanny valley.
Happy holidays,
-Elad

“About” Page added
09/24/2008 05:04 AM |
|
I finally got around to making the ‘About the Website’ page. Take a look.
Also, I know some pages still have strange errors in both Javascript and title, so if you find anything I haven’t fixed yet, feel free to drop word at the “Contact Us” page, or simply by emailing me at elad@songs-of-earth.com
Have a great weekend, and to all our Jewish friends – great holidays and a happy new year!

This website is still under construction. It’s design is not final, and some features may not yet work.
When finished, it will feature all the lyrics and translations to songs from the series “Battlestar Galactica”, and also fan created material and hopefully some original artwork.
Stay tuned for future update,
